On down day in markets, see how Huntsville
Only eight companies on our Huntsville and Alabama Stock Report saw increases on Monday, which proved to be a down day on Wall Street.
Shining the brightest was Community Health Systems. The Franklin, Tennessee-based company, which has six locations in Alabama (Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville) jumped 6.1% to close the day at an even $4.00 a share.
Another area notable, Science Applications International Corporation, was up 1.2% to close at $102.65 a share. According to its website, "SAIC is a premier Fortune 500 technology integrator driving our nation's digital transformation."
Its "robust portfolio of offerings across the defense, space, civilian and intelligence markets includes secure high-end solutions in engineering, IT modernization and mission solutions." It has five locations in Huntsville.
The biggest decliners on Monday were Synovus, Sanmina, Boeing and Target, which all dropped at least 2%.
Sanmina Corporation is a leading integrated manufacturing solutions company with a pair of locations in Huntsville. Its Huntsville Medical Product Design organization develops a broad range of products with a specialty in medical devices and medical electronics for many of the world's leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
